The Church recognizes the family as a primary witness to “living, radiant faith” in a world which is often alien and hostile to the Christian Gospel (CCC 1655). At Ss. Mary and Joseph, we strive to support and encourage families in their calling as the Domestic Church, where spouses grow in mutual love and fidelity, where children are formed and educated as Christians, and where the fruitfulness of God’s love is expressed for the whole world to see. It is from the family that the Holy Spirit calls forth healthy, holy vocations, not only to the priesthood and religious life, but to family life itself. We look to our patrons, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her husband St. Joseph as examples for Christian living. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and with Jesus at the center, the Holy Family is a model for Christian Families today.

Father in heaven, creator of all,
you ordered the earth to bring forth life
and crowned its goodness by creating the family of man.
In history’s moment when all was ready,
you sent your Son to dwell in time, obedient to the laws of life in our world.

Teach us the sanctity of human love,
show us the value of family life,
and help us to live in peace with all men
that we may share in your life forever.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
