The Social Justice Committee is the newest group to come together in the expression of Christian Discipleship at St. Aloysius. SJC grew out of the Discipleship Committee and decided to create its own group when its membership grew to over 40 participants. The SJC will organize, plan and execute programs in partnership with St. Al’s Pro-life Committee, our Street Ministry, Helping Hands, Hospital Ministry, and our Home-bound Ministry. The Pro-life Committee keeps the issues surrounding abortion and end-of-life issues before the community. Street Ministry feeds and prays with those who live on the streets of Springfield. Helping Hands brings a meal to the Helping Hands shelter a few times each month. Hospital Ministries provides a volunteer Catholic presence at Vibra Hospital. Our home-bound ministry brings Communion to and prays with those who are unable to leave their homes. Soon we hope to have a hospice ministry too. For more information about this committee and/or any of its concerns contact the parish office or talk to one of the Deacons.
